I’m a wife, Physical Therapist Assistant turned Stay At Home Mom of 2 little boys, and a DIY gal. I’ve loved organizing for as long as I can remember. I just started full-on do-it-yourself projects in the past 4 years after my oldest son was born. It was my ‘thing,’ and 3 homes in 3 different states later, I continue to do it and love it today – it’s become my stress reliever. (Side Note: In the past year, I’ve repainted 75% of our home- not that it REALLY needed it, BUT flat builder’s grade paint and children DO NOT mix. The painting has happened in spurts. I’m stressed = paint brush comes out. Haha!) Whether it is DIY artwork, refinishing furniture, restyling a room, and so on, I’ve always tried to be as frugal as possible. After all, we don’t have a money tree in our backyard!
After reading “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo, we got rid of 50% of our STUFF. I completely restyled our home and my entire life. By asking ourselves, does it bring us joy?, we have discovered who and what really matters in our lives. I can say that after 3 cross country moves, I have finally found my design style and truly love our home and watching our kids grow up here.
Through all this, I’ve learned that life is NOT Pinterest perfect. Being a mom isn’t easy. We are all simply doing the best we can. My kids are 4 years old and almost 3 years old- 95% of days are still spent in survival mode. DIY and organizational projects help me keep my sanity, and a regular Mom’s Night Out helps also 🙂
Sit back and enjoy my posts about projects and feel free to laugh at my DIY failures. Yes, there are plenty- I’ve learned the hard way more than once!
